The 5 Best 7 Minute Workout Apps Which Actually Work!

5 Best 7 Minute Workout Apps Which Actually Work!

Either you love it or you hate. Exercise is one of those things that you just have to do to stay healthy. Unfortunately not enough people do it as more than two-thirds of Americans are considered to be overweight or obese.

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity to maintain a healthy weight and reduce chronic diseases.

People are busy. With work and family commitments it can be tough to schedule a 3-mile run everyday. The good news is that you don’t have to run 3 miles everyday to stay in shape and maintain health and wellness! Aerobic activity can include anything from brisk walking to swimming to even mowing the lawn. With a push mower of course!

With the growth of smartphone apps and the time-crunched professional, the 7 Minute Workout app has hit the iTunes store in full force. Quick workout routines are now IN.

Gone are the days of running countless minutes on a mind numbing treadmill or busting out four sets of 15 reps of biceps curls. Skip the expensive gym membership and personal trainer and you can workout inside the comfort of your living room while watching the latest reruns of Law & Order.

While you should still aim for at least 30 minutes of activity a day, a 7 Minute Workout App can help you get in shape too. Workouts contain simple bodyweight exercises that you can do anywhere with just yourself, a wall, and a chair. These apps are perfect for travelers and can even be repeated multiple times for an high intensity calorie-burning workout.

Not all apps are equal though so we’ve reviewed out top 5 exercise apps to help you lose weight and break a sweat.

My NEW Top Pick for 2019: My new favorite workout app is the new Aaptive app available here. Basically it’s like having access to dozens of trainers in your pocket, with structured workouts for virtually every type of workout regimen (hitting different muscle groups) and fitness machine.

#2 – 7 Minute Workout App by Wahoo

Wahoo Fitness is a fitness company that produces wearable fitness technology and fitness apps. Their 7 Minute Workout app is a high quality workout that is sure to break a sweat.

Available as a mobile app for  Android and iPhone users, the 7 Minute Workout App had been downloaded by more than 1.5 million people worldwide. During each workout you’ll be doing 12 bodyweight exercises for 30 seconds with a 10 second rest break between each.

For a more accurate workout you can purchase the Wahoo Tickr X, which allows you to capture every repetition for each exercise and measure your heart rate. The app also integrates with your Apple Watch too. The original workout is a free download with additional workouts, like Pilates, for $0.99.

We like the simplicity and the integration capacity of this app. The only con we found was the cost of additional workout options.

#3 – Scientific 7 Minute Workout App by App

Scientific 7 Minute Workout App by App

The Scientific 7 Minute Workout App has been praised highly by The New York Times and is based off of research conducted by exercise scientists at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

The app features voice commands telling you when to start and when to break, a countdown timer, and video guides to ensure you are doing each exercise correctly. The app does allow some flexibility and customization with rest intervals and exercise choice.

We found the app to be easy to use, but we hated the ads in the free version of the app.  We recommend paying the $1.99 to upgrade to the pro version for the no ads and ability to export your workout log to help you keep track of your fitness goals. The app is available for both Android and iPhone users.

#4 – Quick Fit by Tiny Hearts Limited

Quick Fit by Tiny Hearts Limited

Quick Fit is a fitness brand for iPhone users that offers workouts for time-crunched people. The app is one of the best looking apps with an integrated video and countdown timer. The app also integrates with your Apple Watch. Just like all the other 7 Minute Workout Apps, the Quick Fit 7 features 12 exercises for 30 seconds.

The app allows you to change the difficulty setting and track your workouts, progress and goals over time. The app is only available for iPhone users and costs $1.99.

Additional workouts, like their 4 Minute Workout and Quick Abs also costs $1.99 each. While the price certainly doesn’t break the bank, there are plenty of good free apps in both Google Play and iTunes shops.

#5 – 7 Minute Workout Challenge by Fitness Guide Inc.

7 minute app

This exercise app by Fitness Guide Inc. takes the scientifically researched 7-minute workout to a new level. While the exercises are very similar to all the other apps, we like the design and the fact that all the content was included in the $2.99 price.

In addition to both male and female trainers that guide you through the workout with video, audio, image, and text, you can track your weight with the weight tracker. With each workout you earn points and awards to help keep you motivated. The app is available for both Android and iPhone users.

The 7 Minute Workout App is a great way to get in a heart-pumping intense circuit training style strength and cardio workout. There are hundreds of apps available, but there are only a few that are worth downloading. While we are always fond of free apps, sometimes it is worth paying a few dollars for the upgraded pro version with no ads and additional features like weight and activity tracking and additional workouts.

So why not give it a try?
